Money Mentors at Citizens Advice South Warwickshire
I have been working on the Breakthrough programme as a Money Mentor from the Leamington Citizens Advice office since it started in September 2016. Before that I was working as a Money saving adviser on the financial capability project and a volunteer adviser. I have also previously worked in the IT industry. I find the programme very rewarding and satisfying when helping clients improve their lives.
I have recently joined Citizens Advice and the Breakthrough project after 14 years in journalism. For the past eight years I was personal finance correspondent for The Mail on Sunday. Much of my previous work focused on financial capability and I spent a lot of time helping readers informally with their financial problems, particularly relating to utility bills. I am excited to now be able to focus fully on supporting individual clients who need help.
I joined Citizens Advice as a Money Mentor on the Breakthrough Programme in January 2021. Throughout my career I have been fulfilled by opportunities to nurture and grow the success of individuals, teams and businesses and I continue to exploit these strengths with integrity in my new work. My previous work experience, predominantly in Financial Services and in more recent years as a Life Coach all have one thing in common - establishing a relationship and building trust. I respect the uniqueness of each of my clients and with a non-judgemental, empathetic approach, I focus on the client's desire in their journey for fulfilment, a sense of wellbeing and financial security. I feel privileged to be a part of their journey.
