Money Mentors at North Warwickshire Citizens Advice Bureau
I began volunteering at North Warwickshire Citizens Advice early in 2019 as a Generalist Adviser and enjoyed learning about the issues affecting our clients. The following autumn I started working part-time as a Money Mentor on the Breakthrough Project. My working background includes the Health Service; working with vulnerable people in social care settings; plus experience in retail and charity and fundraising work.
I joined the Breakthrough Project as a Money Mentor in May 2020, having previously worked at accounting firm KPMG for 26 years, in their pensions and HR teams. I believe that I have a lot of skills and experience in HR and recruitment which will help to benefit clients in my new role at Citizens Advice. I have always been interested in helping to improve people’s lives and have volunteered for a number of charities over the years. I am looking forward to doing more of this on the Breakthrough Project too.

What People Say...
Having been made redundant after a work-related injury, my Money Mentor helped me to thin out unnecessary out-goings. She gave me lots of practical advice and was an anchor during a time of uncertainty. I’m still not back at work but I have a better outlook for the future because of my money mentor and Breakthrough. I hope this project will continue for future clients as my initial hurdle of finding myself unemployed was eased.
